Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was a movement that began in the 1870’s and lasted until 1840. The movement originated in Great Britain but soon began to be widespread across the world. The industrial revolution was a time of great change and advancements; it allowed people to progress and do things more efficiently. Although there were some disadvantages that came with the revolution; the world would not have progressed the way it did without this progression of machinery. While using your hands to make products was not bad, it was not efficient. With the introduction of new machines, products began to be made faster and at a cheaper cost. For instance, if your family has been in the bookbinding business for years, it leaves you no option but to go into the business yourself even if your passions lie elsewhere. But the growth of industries allowed people to venture into a job so different than what they were accustomed to.† With new factories and new inventions being made, people had new job opportunities. Since there were a lot of new jobs open, many people were able to join the workforce. With more people being employed it allowed the economy to boost dramatically. Another benefit that came from the Industrial revolution was the advancement of medicine. With the advancement of medicine people were able to receive better treatment than ever before. This increased the healthy life expectancy; this is important because the higher the number the longer people are able to work, and provide for their family. During this time period urban and rural life became dependent on one another. Isolated villages came to an end, which meant that people could interact with more people and lived near each other.
